Kristine Jackson: Vocals, Song Writer, Guitar, Trumpet
Raised by a “boogie woogie” piano playin’ father, music has always been pulsing through my veins. But it wasn’t till my later years as a teen that I knew I could make a living at it. At the age of twenty I made a connection with local keyboard player Mark Leach of the “Buddy Miles Express”. The following year he invited me and my trumpet out to do some shows in Colorado. For the next few years
I was gigging as a trumpet player for several Cleveland based bands.
In 2004 I planned a trip to Amsterdam, my first time out of the country and I was going by myself. After surfing the Internet, I found a group called “The Backbones”. They put me on some local shows and even hooked me up with a place to crash while I was in Holland. Since I’ve come back from Europe I’ve been working full time fronting my own projects, playing guitar, singing, songwriting and played trumpet in an off Broadway production of “Love, Janis”.
It’s been about two short years since I started my own project and I’m pleased to say I’ve been packing the clubs with both acoustic and full band electric shows, I’ve also been nominated for best blues band in the Cleveland area by the Cleveland Free Times magazine for 2006. The appeal of my show is quite simple, the audience can see, hear, and feel that I’m on stage to play great music with even greater emotion.
I like to combine cover tunes from Robert Johnson to the Red Hot Chili Peppers with my own unique material to appeal to a broad audience of both younger and older crowds…. music is the common ground!
"She has a way of making you enjoy how she lays it down...If the rest of the band isn't on their p's and q's she's walking away as MVP of the night."
• Mark Leach, Buddy Miles Express bandleader/keyboardist
"This multi-talented girl plays and sings the blues with such emotion it is as if she has an old soul. She performs her blues with style and class and a humbleness I find very refreshing."
• Becky Boyd, Blues Diva
